Chairman - Peter Nixon

As the Chairman of the Bay County Republican Party, Peter Nixon is a patriot, a blue-collar worker, a pastor, and most importantly a family man. He believes that the best way to help his country is by working locally in the pursuit of faith, family & freedom.

After its major Grassroots restructuring, Peter has been working to rebuild Bay County's Republican Party to promote the values and principles of the Republican platform: liberty, economic prosperity, preserving American values and traditions, and restoring the American dream for every citizen of this great nation.

Peter's faith and community are very important to him. He works hard to build bridges between different groups and bring people together around common goals. He believes that everyone has something to contribute, and he has been working hard to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of his community. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing the party’s values and principles in Bay County, and his contributions are greatly appreciated.

Vice Chair – Karen Burns

As the Vice Chair of the Bay County Republican Party, Karen Burns is guided by the principles of Integrity, Transparency, and Accountability in all her actions within the Party. She joined the BCRP in early 2021, became a Precinct Delegate in August 2022, and has been serving on the Executive Committee since November 2022. During this time, she has had the privilege of meeting and working with many wonderful individuals whom she now considers friends.

Karen and her husband, Bob, have been married for 45 years. They have two daughters and three grandchildren, who mean everything to them. Family is the reason Karen became involved in politics, as she believes local politics directly affect personal lives. She aims to ensure these effects are in the best interest of her community and family.

Karen retired from Bay County as a department head in 2006. She has served on numerous Boards and Committees at both State and local levels and has been involved in various organizations at local, State, and national levels.

In her role as Vice Chair, education will be one of Karen's main focuses. Community involvement and service have been a way of life for her, and she is grateful to the Bay County Republican Party for the opportunity to serve her Party and community.

Secretary - Sheila Johnroe

Sheila is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute since 2015. She is currently employed with Kesta IT through the Mississippi State Department of Education in the Office of Technology & Strategic Services, where she is a Project Management Office Director leading groups and projects to success.

Previously serving on the BCRP Board as the Treasurer and as an Executive Committee Member, Sheila has organized and lead several Fast & Furious (Fast Track) workshops to bring organization and to strengthen strategic planning within the Party. She has been pivotal to the success of BCRP.
